What’s meowin’, humans? Adam here 👋

This is my newsletter where I share cool stuff people do on the internet.

You might remember me from my CatGPT 🐈‍⬛ project. I created it in a single day to show that people can make fun stuff with AI, and millions of people loved it!! 😻

Ever since I was a kid I’ve just REALLY loved building stuff!!

Even now, I still love LEGO sets and 3D printing so much.

You start with a bunch of pieces, follow the steps, and eventually get a finished product. Same reason for IKEA furniture. 🔨🪑

This week we’re bragging about humans who took that same 5th-grader “anything is possible to create” energy to the next level to create some amazing (and highly practical) projects:

  • A LEGO store employee who built a wheelchair for a disabled kitten 🐈️.

  • A kid whose school project turned into a wildfire detection system 🔥.

  • And a group of women who crocheted an enormous 12,916-square-foot shade canopy over their town 🧶.

Adam BraggLet's get into today's bragging! — Adam

Pssst… keep scrolling for some cat-sized prizes 🤫🐱

Bragging ABOUT:

The $1,800 kitten problem solved with a box of LEGOs

Michael Hawley and Rex with the Lego wheelchair
This Kitten Has Never Walked Before... Until This LEGO Miracle!

Rex is a 4-month-old rescue kitten with cerebellar hypoplasia, better known as “wobbly-cat syndrome.” This makes it really hard for him to balance and walk on his own. 🐈

A proper cat-sized wheelchair would’ve cost around $1,800 (wayyy too much for something he'd grow out of in a month)… so this kitten’s rescuers called a local LEGO store 🧱 to figure out a creative solution.

That’s where they found Michael HawleyRex the kittenMichael Hawley, who works at Bricks & Minifigs in Wilmington, North Carolina. When they asked if he could build a “cat wheelchair” out of Legos, he said yes on the spot!

Wouldn’t you? lol

This tiny cat-sized wheelchair is ridiculously cute 😂👇

And there's an especially sweet reason Michael wanted to help.

He once had a dog named Mr. Wiggles 🐶 who had the same condition as Rex. Mr. Wiggles died when he was only 3 years old. So this time around, Michael got a chance to help another little animal with the same wobbly start.

Michael… what a purrr-fet use of Legos!! 👏😻

Bragging ABOUT:

Ryan and the 5th-grade science project tackling wildfires in California

Ryan HonaryRyan Honary was in 5th grade when he saw coverage of California’s devastating “Camp Fire” on TV in 2018 🌳🔥. The burning neighborhoods looked enough like his own that he panicked and called his mom to make sure she was safe.

Even though his mom was safe (luckily! 😮‍💨), Ryan couldn’t stop thinking about all the families who weren’t so lucky… so he built his own wildfire detector for his science fair!

But unlike most 5th-grade science projects…

Ryan never stopped working on his.👇

That little detector eventually grew into SensoRy AI: a network of solar-powered sensors designed to detect the earliest signs of wildfire and give firefighters more warning before flames spread.

And now?

The City of Irvine is now preparing to deploy a large-scale network across its Open Space Preserve in early 2027, while Laguna Beach has selected SensoRy AI for a larger deployment of its own. One recent SensoRy AI deployment even detected an ignition from more than a mile away 🤯 before residents or camera systems spotted it.

Go Ryan!! 👏👏👏

Eva and the 50 grannies beating the heat with yarn

Eva Pacheco and the giant crochet canopy in Spain
How Grannies Are Saving Spain From a Heat Wave

In Alhaurín de la Torre, a town just outside Málaga, Spain, the summer months regularly push 100+ degrees 🥵 during the daytime.

So crochet teacher Eva PachecoEva Pacheco and a group of local women decided to help make the town’s pedestrian streets a little more comfortable.

Their solution?

Yarn. 🧶

Lots and lots and LOTS of yarn lol.

Their handmade canopy now stretches the size of 3 basketball courts (12,916 square feet), and when you stand underneath the finished thing…

Holy crochet!! 🤯👇

The project has been running through the town's senior center since 2019, with pieces from previous years coming together again to create the enoooormous canopy.

Besides looking awesome, the covers cast shade across the streets below and help take some of the edge off the summer heat. ☀️

Eva and the crochet crew… you’re awesome!! 👏👏👏

Bragging you can do this weekend:

Maybe we all need a little more 5th grader “anything is possible to create” energy. 👨‍🎨

None of these ideas started with some huge plan. Somebody noticed a problem, and used whatever they had available to try and solve it.

  • A cat wheelchair made out of Legos.

  • An elementary science project turned wildfire detector.

  • And a massive… crocheted canopy??

That creative, problem-solving energy is definitely worth bragging about 🧡
