Hey Buddy - scrape your windshield!

Sunday morning my friend Cheryl Hurchik and I went out for an 11 mile run.   Cheryl is training for her first 1/2 Marathon which will be the Disney 1/2 on January 7th in Orlando.   She's been training really well and I know that she's going to have a great race!

I accomplished so much in 18.25 miles and totally earned my "Bragging-Rights"

Back in August 2010 I attended my first triathlon as a spectator, my sister Lori was really getting into and loves the sport but I didn’t really know too much about it. At that race my eyes were opened wide, there was music playing and hundreds of women (as this was a women only race) there of all levels, some unbelievably in-shape and muscular, others not-so-much, women in their 60’s straight through to teenagers, breast cancer survivors, sisters, mothers, friends and the list goes on.

I did it! 70.3....I totally earned my bragging rights!

I still can't believe that I finished my first, and possibly my last, 1/2 Ironman - The Timberman 70.3.  Two days later and I'm still flying high.

I'm so glad it's over and yet I'm so glad that I did it.   I started training in May and the training definitely paid off.   Thank you Sharon Johnson for being an awesome coach!

Less than 2 weeks to my 1/2 Ironman

I can't believe that the Timberman 1/2 Ironman is less than 2 weeks away. I'm getting very nervous!

I have done all of the training and wish that coach Sharon took tapering 1/2 as seriously as I typically do for a marathon.  Doesn't tapering mean quit working out all together for 3 weeks? Last Saturday, 2 weeks from race day, Sharon had me doing a 50 mile bike ride followed by a 12 mile run!

Month 2 of my Triathlon Training

I can't believe that I'm starting month 2 of my training for the Timberman 1/2 Ironman with Sharon Johnson.   It's bad that I haven't done a blog since I started but I've been training!   Sharon has me working out 6 days a week with one cherished day off.  I can't say that I feel much stronger but I'm trusting that I am.   My legs are in a constant state of fatigue so they will know the feeling well on race day.   My friend Terry and I were planning on riding the bike course tomorrow but after several weeks of no rain

Perfect Sunglasses for Playing Tennis

I have never been so impressed with a pair of sunglasses!   Since I have never had a pair of glasses that had such well-crafted lenses, I typically NEVER wear sunglasses while playing tennis.   However, ever since I have had these sunglasses, I wear them whether it is sunny or even cloudy…amazing!   They are so light weight that I do not even know that I am wearing them…very impressive and thank you for giving me the opportunity to try them out.   I wish you the best as you start to market this quality piece of athletic wear.

Running glasses that work!

As promised, attached is a picture of my running partners and me wearing the glasses.  The picture of the 3 of us was taken right after finishing the Denver marathon.  We all 3 purchased the glasses for the marathon, and they were terrific right from the start.

We've been running together for over 2 years, and as women do, we share what does and does not work for running.  These glasses work!  They never slip or slide and we haven't taken them off since purchasing them at the marathon over 6 months ago.

I've hired a Triathlon Coach!

So, I hired a trainer to help me with my triathlon training. I've signed up for the Timberman ½ Ironman on August 22nd. I'm not sure that this was the smartest thing that I've ever done but my friend Jane and I decided that we wanted to do something different than just marathons. You’d think that I would work up to doing a ½ Ironman rather than just jumping in but hey, why not just do it? I’ve only done two sprints in my life and those were over 5 years ago. Now you know why I needed to hire a trainer!
